Organizers

The organizers of the Religions: Libraries and Dialogue Special Interest Group (RELINDIAL) satellite meeting are issuing a call for papers (CFP). The theme of this year’s RELINDIAL satellite meeting is “Fostering Global Communications among Religions and Libraries.” The satellite meeting will take place on August 12, 2016, on the campus of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, OH.

The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) is sponsoring and hosting the satellite meeting. The satellite meeting is prior to the start of the 82nd IFLA General Conference and Assembly August 13-19, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio. The IFLA RELINDIAL Satellite Meeting is held under the aegis of IFLA but is a separate meeting not requiring IFLA registration.

Invitation

We invite proposals from librarians, scholars, students, and others. We especially encourage first-time presenters (papers will be 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions) on topics related to RELINDIAL’s general theme. Proposals may address a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Making global knowledge exchanges in theology and religious studies more efficient;
  • Identifying explicit and tacit barriers to access in theology and religious studies;
  • Intellectual property protection for traditional religious knowledge;
  • The state of open access publication in the field of theology and religious studies;
  • Differences in open access practices between religious communities;
  • Advancing digital humanities in theology and religion.

Submissions

To apply, please email a proposal of 250 words (with title of presentation) or less by 31 March 2016 the extended deadine of 30 April 2016 to:  jyounger@nd.edu.

Please include your name and institutional affiliation in your email, but not on your proposal itself.

Proposals will be double-blind peer-reviewed.

All proposals must be received by 30 April 2016.

Please note

At least one of the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the paper during the program of the Satellite Meeting.

All papers that are presented at the WLIC 2016 will be made available online via the IFLA Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

Authors of accepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form.

All expenses for attending the satellite meeting (eg. travel, accommodation, etc.) are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA.
