The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) Users Special Interest Group (SIG) is pleased to offer a preconference satellite meeting in Chicago,  on August 10-11, 2016.

Sessions will include keynotes and tours of some of the most fabulous collections in the world as well as presentations by local librarians and archivists and international speakers.

The LGBTQ Users SIG seeks submissions for presentations. Please share your critical understanding and/or innovative approaches to meeting the informational needs of LGBTQ individuals and communities.

Timeline:

15 January 2016: Deadline to submit 300 word proposals including: title; preference for paper (3000-4000 words) + PPT or extended abstract (~500 words) + PPT; brief author bio(s)

15 February 2016: Notification of acceptance and dissemination of the program

1 July 2016: Deadline for authors to submit papers/abstracts

10-11 August 2016: Presentations at DocuQueer Meeting in Chicago

Submissions and any questions may be sent via email to ifla.lgbtq@gmail.com.

Receipt of all submissions will be acknowledged.

Presenters will also have an opportunity to discuss presentation highlights at the IFLA Conference LGBTQ Users SIG Session the following week at the World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio. Congress attendance is optional.

Submissions

All proposals must be received by 15 January 2016 via email to ifla.lgbtq@gmail.com.

Please note

At least one of the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the paper during the program of the Satellite Meeting.

All papers that are presented at the WLIC 2016 will be made available online via the IFLA Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

Authors of accepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form.

All expenses for attending the satellite meeting (eg. travel, accommodation, etc.) are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA.
